Bologna confirm Scottish defender Aaron Hickey has tested positive for COVID-19.
He had been left out of today’s 5-1 home defeat to Roma after suffering from a fever, but it had been hoped this was only a seasonal flu.
A statement released this evening makes clear Hickey has tested positive for COVID-19.
The Bologna squad was already going to be placed into a training retreat after that heavy loss, but now the they are forced to stay behind closed doors as part of the COVID protocol.
“Bologna F.C. 1909 can confirm that Aaron Hickey tested positive for COVID-19 in the round of testing undertaken yesterday.
“In accordance with existing guidelines and protocol, local health authorities were promptly notified and the player immediately went into self-isolation at home.”
